Skram Furniture Company is a furniture design and manufacturing company based in Burlington, North Carolina, and has been "based in the Piedmont region of North Carolina since 2001." It was founded by A. Jacob Marks, who is also its designer.
The company builds in its own Burlington facility, where all products are developed, engineered, and produced. Material sourcing is specific: "North American timbers form the core of our manufacturing focus for most casegoods, tables, and seating. These are harvested within 500 miles of our North Carolina workshop. Hardwoods are individually hand-selected for color and grain." Solid timber products are "constructed with mortise-and-tenon joinery throughout and exhibit matched seams and 'waterfall' edges as applicable." Veneers are hand-bookmatched and hand-stitched before bonding to formaldehyde-free substrates with non-toxic adhesives.
Skram states its materials "are selected, matched, seamed, and joined by experts devoted to craft, not by machines," and that "beyond the standard options, Skram products are fully customizable. The material options are truly limitless."
The portfolio spans seating, casegoods, and tables — chairs and armchairs, accent tables, desks and consoles, dining tables, beds and nightstands, storage, and lighting and accessories — plus contract furnishings and bespoke commissions, with a quickship program for faster timelines.
Sustainability is framed as process, not slogan: the company installed a rooftop solar array at its Burlington facility in 2015 and describes "a deeper interpretation of sustainability, one that emphasizes minimalism over excess."
