How the Guild verifies makers

The Custom Furniture Guild is only as good as its facts. Every fact here is sourced and dated, and every maker's standing is earned, not bought. Here is exactly how it works.

Every fact is sourced and dated

We don't publish what we can't back. Each maker's details carry a provenance level that records where a fact came from and when it was last checked:

  • Sourced — taken from the maker's own site or a public record, with the source and date on file.
  • Verified — cross-checked against an authoritative or first-party source.
  • First-party — confirmed directly by the maker.

Numbers like lead times and price bands are derived from the underlying records — never hand-entered, never invented.

The trust ladder

A maker's standing reflects how much has been confirmed — by us and by them:

  • Listed — in the directory with sourced facts. The starting point for every maker.
  • Verified — key facts cross-checked against authoritative sources.
  • Claimed — the maker has claimed their profile and keeps it current.
  • Partner — the maker runs the operational systems the Guild recommends, implemented with servicebydesign.
  • Flagship — a fully implemented reference operation.

Makers move up by claiming their profile, keeping facts current, and — for Partner and Flagship — implementing the systems behind a modern shop.

What we never do

No pay-for-rank. No selling buyer data. No invented reviews, ratings, or numbers. When a fact is derived from data, we say so and show the basis. Trust is the only thing that makes a directory worth using, and we won't spend it.

For makers

If you build custom furniture and you're listed here, claim your profile to keep your facts current and start climbing the ladder.
