T.Y. Fine Furniture is a solid-wood furniture manufacturer established in Columbus, Ohio in 2004. The company builds every piece in its own 30,000-square-foot workshop with a team of approximately ten artisans, and states its position directly: "We still build every piece ourselves. We've never outsourced, never switched to particle board."
Material sourcing is local and specific. The shop uses solid Ohio hardwoods — white oak, walnut, cherry, and hard maple — drawn from sustainably managed forests within 200 miles of the workshop, including naturally fallen timber. Construction uses traditional joinery, including mortise and tenon joints and hand-fitted dovetails; the company describes its approach as building "furniture the way it was done before assembly lines." Every piece is inspected before shipment.
The finish is the shop's most distinctive technical claim: a zero-VOC, zero-formaldehyde organic oil and natural wax finish, made from food-grade certified organic oils and developed in collaboration with an Ohio State University microbiologist.
The product range covers bedroom, dining room, living room, and home office furniture, with made-to-order and custom capability. The company also carries mattresses and organic bedding. Orders ship free, with free white-glove delivery on orders over $5,000, and pieces carry a lifetime guarantee. Through a partnership with Greenspark, the company plants two trees for every order.
Two showrooms serve Columbus — one in Clintonville on North High Street, one in Grandview Heights on Dublin Road — both open Tuesday through Saturday, 11am to 6pm.
