BDDW is an American furniture company founded by Tyler Hays, an artist born and raised in rural northeastern Oregon, who began making furniture to support his art practice. The company describes its output as "highly-crafted, American-made, heirloom quality furniture and objects."
All BDDW work is designed and engineered by Hays and made under his direct oversight in the company's Philadelphia studios. Pieces are crafted by hand by artisans working in traditional woodworking techniques, alongside what the company describes as the most high-tech processes and equipment in its industry. The company offers a Made to Order range through its site.
Materials center on wood, naturally tanned leather and bronze — chosen, the company says, because they develop patina over time rather than degrade. The range spans tables, seating, cabinets, beds, mirrors, lighting, textiles and decorative objects. Work carries a lifetime guarantee of structural integrity under normal use.
